I really liked goodbye forever but I thought the gospel choir was so over the top. The other songs were all very commercial and the only ones that I was honestly that impressed with were gates of babylon, let it burn, and you will know. There were only like 3 songs (4 if you count slaytan) on that album that sounded like old Volbeat (devil's bleeding crown, loas crossroads, and the title track).
I think he saw the success of Lola MONTEZ combined with caggiano pulling him in a more American commercial radio rock direction and that's how we got seal the deal. Half of it sounded like volbeat (dead but rising, Hangman's body count, the nameless one, doc Holliday, room 24, Black Bart, our loved ones, ecotone) and half of it sounded like the new commercial stuff (cape of our hero, pearl Hart, my body, sinner is you, and ESPECIALLY LOLA MONTEZ). Like 7 or 8 months before outlaw gentlemen came out. I got into Volbeat in the late Above heaven / beyond hell era.
He can do so much better than the seal the deal album. But I am definitely disappointed in him with his decisions over the last few years.
